Just wanted to say thanks for some hints & tips and even some personal interaction from the WA Fly Fishing board. My family and I had an excellent time in Central Washington. Kids were excited to get there The heat was high when we arrived (104 F) and bikini's were the only hatches of the week . We had a very nice location on Blue lake thanks to Rusty & gang at Laurent's Campground. Kids couldn't get enough of the water. I was able to hook up with that crazy zen leecher (whom I had met once before at a Flybc.ca event) and he blind folded me and swore me to secrecy before he & "Bruce" took me into this little secluded stream. We proceeded to have a great time for about 90 min. Some very nice trout came to hand. All were taken on a brown medium sized caddis nymph (sorry no pic of the fly, as zen took my last one as payment ) As for Blue we fished a bit, but seemed to have swam more. I did look for trout a bit, but since it's summer vacation with the family, it's boat rides for everyone. The kids enjoyed catching the perch & sunfish. And I was able to manage a few of these guys. All in all, a great way to start off the summer with the family.
After the trip with Hoof I wondered, "why don't I fish Rocky Ford more in the summer?" Must be the weed height. No ticks or snakes sighted.
Great report Hoof! Thanks for sharing. It brought back wonderful memories of my own family's vacations and I am sure that some day, your kids will treasure memories of this trip and the time spent together.
