I don't normally post much but I'm kind of proud of this. Spent quite a bid of time last year welding up a drift boat. I thought it came out nice.

Built it in my buddies shop with him. He's never built a boat, but he builds airplanes. Got him fly fishing in the process.

Ah, ho hum. Another perfectly finished, welded aluminum beautiful drift boat.

I think I speak for everyone when I agree, yes, it came out nice. Stay safe and have good floats!

Don't be silly Ed, of course he didn't just build it in his garage...he built it in his buddies garage.
Oh by the way, he also builds airplanes.:D
Not sure why this is making me chuckle, but it is. Just seems so matter of fact.

Rev Trout has me thinking of creative friends. They don't build planes or weld boats but they fish, build fires, bars and camp shelters. Talented folks all around.

With quality like that, maybe the two of you should take orders for custom boats/airplanes. Not that I can afford one, yet I'd be happy to refer those I know who can.
Great Job and thank you for sharing.

Very nice! Did you work off a set of plans or another boat as a model?

Rev, have you and your friend thought about building a flying drift boat? I've got some ideas if interested.

It is obvious that the skill, talent, and thought you put into creating your beautiful boat, were well above the norm. A good friend also helps, as you pointed out, Rev.

Beautiful! But a flying drift boat? How short does the take-off run need to be?

We had a set of plans for the hull. Went to Red's a lot and measured a lot of boats stored there & got ideas. Boat weights about 450lbs. Bought some stuff from Willys, Clackacraft & Hyde to trick it out. Pro airplane painter painted it with aircraft paint.

All I can say is, SWEET! And NICE JOB! Now take that that buddy's, garage-crafted, outstanding example of a driftboat out and get 'er wet and catch some fish. Look forward to seeing that masterpiece on the river. Nicely done.
