I just made the transition spring turkey season. It's confusing, the class sucks, but it's neccesary, hunting in general is confusing, calibers, gauges and bows. You'll get it in time keep asking questions people will answer, they might answer as most have and say take the class! (which by this time i'm assuming you have). The biggest thing is get to know the regulations and hunt appropriately, I would suggest getting a shotgun for upland hunting, just because it will be the most success, i'm planning to use my A-5 this season. I have an 870 12ga which I really like as well. I used my single shot 10 gauge last season in Wisconsin and filled to tags with one shot. So 10 gauges will work too, you might have a difficult time with your shoulder but if you shoot something you don't care. If you got any questions let me know i'll try to answer the best I can. You can hunt with an air rifle if you are licensed for the query your going after, I don't recommend it at all though. Also go along on a few hunts first to get accustomed to it, have a buddy take you out and call for coyotes if nothing else, it will get you ready for some seasons later on. Good luck, and welcome to the long wait that is the summer.
