I’m looking for a camping/fishing combo. Does anyone have any places they’d recommend that offer some backpacking or primitive car-camping opportunities with reasonable fishing nearby? I can cartop a boat; for backpacking I’d be wading.

It's still like summer over here on the east side of the mountain.
Pick a lake and go for it.
The water has cooled off enough to make the fishing good.

If you don't mind driving over to the Island, Pass Lake is fishing pretty good and since school has started you can most likely get a camp spot at Deception Pass State Park. If you want to backpack I can recommend Watson/Anderson Lakes. There are several little lakes close to one another with small but hungry cutthroat in them. Only 2.5 miles in on nice trails. You will need a NW Forest Pass though.
