Didn't know that. Thought they planted them to control weeds.
My brother spent nine years in Germany while in the military. We've often talked about fishing for Carp and what he tells me about them is quite different from what I have read here. Carp are considered a food fish there. I guess when you go to a street fair or something similar, "Carp on a stick" is readily available and eaten regularly sort of like a corn dog here. While I'm not probably going to try it, some people consider it to be fine table fare. They can be poached in foil and the skin and bones removed, then eaten and I've heard it can be tasty if treated correctly.
In reality, I will fish for them and release them just as any other fish. I have to agree that if you are going to kill them that it should be quick and humane, even if they are a trash fish in some people's minds. There is never a reason to dispose of any fish or animal in an inhumane manner. But some people have been raised differently. Hopefully, the author of this post will reconsider after suffering the flames on the forum.
I've heard it's pretty good, boning them is the hard part. Why they are considered "trash" piques my interest. Because they are bottom feeders? So are Halibut, crab, sturgeon. Any ever canned (to remove the bones) and smoked Shad; it's delicious, one of the best, yet 95% of anglers will not touch them.
You caught them with bait, didn't dispatch them humanely and then cry when people aren't impressed? Congrats on your carp glamour shots. Sweet moobs too.
fertilizer is a use I'd suggest for carp.
You are thinking of grass carp, that you cannot kill, these fish are common carp.
Yes I know, have shot tournaments in both of those bodies of water.
Please please put your address on here and I will deliver carp to your door step. Please please......
White trash toss and inhumanely waste fish. way to go sporto!
Immaturity . . . so easy even a caveman can do it . . .
Your an idiot thats all I have to say...... Like I said whats your address again.....
Young fella, perhaps it would be better to accept the fact that your post on a fly fishing forum frequented by ardent fly fishermen & women who have a great respect for the outdoors and its many resources was in poor taste, learn from the experience, and move on. If it makes you feel better, call me whatever you like; I just consider the source anyway. Here's hoping that you have a better day.
I like the puppy photos ,but even these cute photos aren't turn this thread around.
Well guess you should stop eating Beef, pork and chicken. You ever watch them raise and slaughter your meet. That sure is humane. Your joke. Your probably one of those guys who just sits behind a computer saying your 2cents and never have touched a rod....
I bet he hasn't tossed corn on a flyrod before.
Seriously caveman, you are a giant parody of yourself without even realizing it. No one cares that youkilled a couple fish and didn't eat them, as you have stated they are problematic in some areas. But your demeanor and actions make me think your ethical standpoint on the subject is probably akin to the kid that was snagging chums and bashing their heads in before dumping them in the ditch. (There was a video posted last year sometime)
Carp may become the last remaining fishery we have.
There was a massive US Fish Commission carp stocking campaign in the early 1900's. Carp were lauded as the game fish and food fish of the future. Millions of them were stocked all over our fair land.
I do remember once being like Caveman. I was in junior high and caught and killed a large carp in one of the "I-82" ponds near Yakima. My friends and I stuffed it snugly into the mailbox of a grumpy old man that lived in our neighborhood.
I do regret that incident (and a few others). Hopefully it's not too late for Caveman to learn the error of his ways. I would strongly suggest not giving him your address for the aforementioned reason.
Qualifier - you were in Jr High - like 12??
