It's confusing there. I don't see any special rules for Chico in the regs, then you get there and there's the "no fishing above this point" sign. So is all Chico creeek closed to fishing? Not that I'd want to fish there, but it made me wonder if I was missing something in the regs.
I spoke with one of the land owners when I was out there. Apparently the land is private property and they choose to open it up to the public for fishing. The guy told me they put the sign up to keep people from harassing (not to mention snagging) fish while they are trying to get up the creek and spawn. On another note, anyone had any luck out there? I've been out the last couple of days and the bite has been slow.
What Ed said. Technically you are not fishing Chico creek, you are fishing the salt water up to the high tide mark. Chico creek itself is closed.
Page 26 of my booklet, Statewide Freshwater Rules: All FRESHWATER areas are closed to fishing for SALMON, DOLLY VARDEN/BULL TROUT, GREEN STURGEON, LAMPREY and GRASS CARP unless listed as open in Special Rules. So, the marker marks the end of the Estuary where you can target salmon in the saltwater for that marine area according to the regulations. Above there it is closed for fishing for salmon.
Oh I did miss that. I was taking the list of creeks as just ones with special rules and ones not listed regulated as general state rules. I guess I didn't look closely enough. Thanks.
Well, if you live in Bremerton, go take a drive down the street 5 minutes and check it out!!!! :clown: What's so tough about that. Oh well. Pass me more wine sweetheart....
Fish around, not so bitey. Landed a handful over the last couple afternoons. Lots of fish coming in backwards. There's one guy I've seen every time I've been there and every time you turn around he's got a fish on, all backwards. I bet yesterday this dude snagged 60 fish.
Haha honestly I've gotten way more into SRCs around here lately. Chum are fun on the line, but I've had just as much fun cruising the beaches for cutts!
Ah, you are chasing the RIGHT species kylesw! The cutts are on the move still. There might be a few chums showing up with this nasty weather coming, but it's supposed to be windy as hell. Hard to fish with the darn wind.
