Zach, you thinking a holding pattern for estuaries or river pattern? I'm in I guess. I'll start working on some this weekend around sessions of gluttony, sloth and of course football.

Host, never done it, that is all you Zach! I'm just willing to tie up a set of flies. We trust in you, we'll all tie our share, send them to you with a bit of return cash. They all arrive at your place, you separate them and send them all back. This is all you, unless of course you are inviting me to your private beach at Minter Creek to test out all these ties!

I'll be trying to replicate Jay Taylor's "Pooch Persuader" found in FF for PS II (p.163). If I have time I might toss in another pattern, but you can count on that as my offering.

    Zach,

Not much to hosting the swap. You will do fine. Here are a few suggestions:

Try to get as many tiers signed up as possible.

Communicate with the tiers, such as posting often so everyone knows what is going on - stay in contact.

Collect all the flies, divide them up & mail them out in a speedy fashion. (don't make everyone wait forever for them to receive the flies)

PM everyone with your mailing address.

    Stick to your deadline.

Take photos of all flies and post in the Gallery when the Swap is finished.

Here are a couple of questions:

    1. Is the deadline going to be the 15th for sure?

    2. How many patterns do we need to tie?

    3. Like Mumbles said, Estuary or River patterns? Or both or just any Chum Pattern?

You set the rules and let everyone know and stick to them!

Now, it is getting a little late for Chums in most areas, however if you get at least 5 tiers, count me in!

hmm, i don't fly fish for salmon yet mostly cause i don't have as great access to any great small river salmon fisheries where i live, but i've been looking for a swap to join so i'd like to tie up some chum patterns. I'm not exactly sure what i would tie up but probably would be something with chartreuse something with some sparse pink something.

Six tiers right now, I tied up eight "Pooch Persuaders" last night. First time I've palmered a hackle this way, stripped off half, wrapped from tip to tail and back using the nor-vise. I think that will counteract any spinning of the fly in air or water and I like the way the hackle ended up looking. I'll check back to see if we've added tiers, or going for more than one pattern.

I've got five flies tied, sixth in the vice. If we only have 6 tiers I'd be up for doing 2 patterns each.

Ron, is that interesting like you are in as tyer number EIGHT? I have my eight tied already. I'm hoping that you'll see some level of progress over my offering in an early swap that you and I both entered. I agree that it is late for some chum runs, but not if we get them cranked out.

Mine are finished. I tied 2 patterns - two of each for a total of 20. If that is too many, then Zach can keep the extras.:thumb:
