Has anyone ever fished the Coal Creek Slough for crappie? I was just wondering how the fishing is there, seeing if it's worthwhile to try a trip down there.

I used to back when I lived in Longview. It can be ludicrous and fun if you hit it right.

Do you think if I go in May that there should be a decent amount in there around that time? Also is there a launch on the slough? Will probably take the 14' Duraboat down there if I go.

There is a launch, I used to fish from it. I believe you just head out Ocean Beach Highway, pass the four corners minute mart and keep an eye out for it on the left.

May is usually when it starts, but it's entirely dependent on water temps. The crappie bite is great at night too.

Cool, thanks for the help. I might try going down there around the 2nd week of May. Hopefully if I get into them they won't be a bunch of 6" dinks.
