Coon Flies

    I recently got a raccoon skin from a buddy of mine and I was curious to see if anyone has tied with the stuff. I've tied a few flies with it but I am interested to see what other ideas are floating around out there. I am going to try and dye some of it and see what kind of magic I can make happen. Here's a pan fish popper I tied with some of it.

    View attachment 41422 View attachment 41422 Yup. My go to sculpin is a matuka style tied with a coon wing, tail, and sometimes a spun coon collar if I want to move water. Without as bushy a collar it's a great steelhead fly on the swing.

    Skip Morris cranks out a fly called the Racoon. It's a real fish getter too!
