Building a Z-Axis 7136 and am looking for a new cutting edge reel seat and was wondering if there was someone out there than the "typical" places to go that is doing something "New"...I am really looking for something different than the "classic " look.. If you saw it and thought " that is different " I would love to check it out.. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks...
Gary Anderson of Anderson Custom Rods (ACR) builds some of the sexiest looking reel seats known to man.
How about something like this? http://jenkinsflyrods.com/il reel seat jfr 2012.htm These are a bit different than the typical reel seats. I haven’t seen them in person so I don’t have any background on how they perform. Regards, TC
I turn my own using amboyna burl, I think they really add to the look of the rod and fit my hands quite good Rick
Gotta agree with "Speyfisher"....Gary Anderson makes some of the most inovative ones I've seen. Don't have one of his rods but if I were building one, I would let him do the whole thing.....
Probably not what you're after for a spey build, but look for Ari Hart reel seats on Google. They are a similar riff on Mike Montagne's builds, which could be applied to long rods by using a skeleton w/o the insert. The style seems to be in vogue now among the casting/spinning crowd. Here's a pick of his work: http://www.overmywaders.com/index.php?Montagnespeaksout
