Echo TR7 for $350 (and I have casted), or Beulah Classic (for discounted price at $299) but I havent casted it...which one would be better for a rookie like myself?

Edit: Just realized I posted this in the wrong thread, whoops

As an overall preference, I like slower better.

Have not laid hands on the Beulah Classic, but have the Echo TR7. I would not consider it slow by any means but it may very well be slower than the Beulah. I've paired my TR7 with a compact Skagit 540 and it's the bomb. Could not get over how much fun that set up was to fish. I'm really interested in trying it out as a summer steelhead rod with a mid-belly line like the Ballistic Vector. But if you're really looking for something on the slower end in that price range, you might at least consider the Echo DH7.
