Does Flex Coat Go Bad?

Discussion in 'Rod Building' started by Griswald, Mar 15, 2012.

  1. I have some that is about 6 years old, been stored inside. Don't want to use it if it is "expired"
Please let me know. I would buy some but I live out on Vashon and do not want to make a special trip "over town"
    Thanks,

  2. FlexCoat yellows a bit with time, whether mixed and cured on a rod or still in the retail contaniers. One or both of the unmixed components may "milk" or even crystalize (like honey) over several years. No worry. Controlled heating of the discolored component in a microwave, gets it back to "normal" save the yellowing. Short answer--no it does not expire or have a shelf life.

If you decide you cannot bear to use 6 year old stuff, several WA state retailers of rod building supplies will ship it to you on Vashon. Greg's Custom Rods and Anglers Workshop come to mind.
