Finished tying it up thinking the elusive bluegills would slay it, turns out the bass liked it just as much, shocked the hell out of me, I have never caught bass on dragonfly nymphs but damn they tore this bad boy up... Came across this video that I though was bad ass about these things.
Bass will eat whatever is available. I've caught them on chironomids while while trout fishing. Adaptability is one of things I like so much about bass plus they are self sustaining and fast growing. You stock them once and and they do the rest providing outstanding sport and you can even eat a few without harming the population.
Looks like the boys had a ball & you went to church, too . . . doesn't get any better than that. Congrats! I've seen Bass go nuts chasing adult helicopters/Dragons & have had a good time using a large dry imitation.
