Not sure if I am correct but are motors not allowed at Dry Falls? I was there on Wednesday and at least 3 people were there with electric motors? Hate to see people trolling all day and not having to work for their fish
Fishing was kind of slow. Not much activity. Caught a few on mini leeches and not alot of chrionomid activity. Weather was great.
Selective Gear rules only outlaw internal combustion engines. Motors are prohibited altogether on lakes designated as "Fly Fishing Only." The exception being if the fisher is disabled. Then they may use an electric motor on "Fly Fishing Only" lakes.
BD - A quick correction, FF Only does not mean that you can't use electric motors, for example, Cady Lake is FF only and only internal combustion engines are banned, so electrics are okay. Whereas, Pass is "Motors Prohibited".
Also, no internal combustions engines means that they can't even be on the boat - even if they are out of the water and not being used.
There is confusion at some of the lakes because the old regulations prohibited the use of all motors for selective water fisheries. Some lakes like Dry Falls and Beda have signs at the launches that list this no motor restriction. A couple of years ago they changed the regulations so that you CAN use electric motors on selective water fisheries, unless they specifically prohibit it, such as the case with lakes like Pass Lake and Aeneas. The signs have not been changed to reflect this, so there is some confusion from people who read the signs at the launches.

I guess there is always a smart ass in the group. The post was about a question on motors allowed on tubes, pontoons, and or small boats. Never have seen motors in the past and a few days ago I see three in one day.
Here is the first general rule to be found in the 08/09 pamphlet, re disability:
An angler with a disability, who has been issued a special use disability permit and has it in their posession, may fish in "Fly Fishing Only" waters with spin casting gear, with a casting bubble, and may use an electric motor while fishing on "Fly Fishing Only" lakes where fishing from a boat is allowed. All other restrictions listed above still apply.
Only unscented artificial flies or lures with one single-point, barbless hook are allowed. Up to a total of three artificial flies or lures containing single-point, barbless hooks may be used. Bait is prohibited; fish may be released until the daily limit is retained. Only
knotless nets may be used to land fish. No one may fish from any floating device
equipped with an internal combustion motor, except where specifically allowed under
Special Rules for individual waters. If any fish has swallowed the hook or is hooked in the
gill, eye, or tongue, it should be kept if legal to do so.
though don't take this to mean that electrics are prohibited on fly-only waters as a general rule - I saw no reference to that.
And, indeed some of the fly fishing only waters do not specifically say no motors, and more interestingly, the fly fishing only waters without a specific motor restriction IMO have an implied restriction against internal combustion, since it is an even tighter rule than selective gear rules which specifically prohibits internal combustion (unless the special reg says otherwise) <deep breath>
Oh yeah and "equipped" means on your boat. Doesn't matter if it's in the water.
Ya so I hope that helps. That was the best I could do with it. But I swear I was on some website recently that concisely listed all of the lakes in WA and motor regs for each... damned if I can find it now.
They changed the regs a couple of years ago -- electric motors now allowed.
