Im looking to get a floating line for skating flies in the late summer and early fall throughout our waters here in Eastern WA and Northern Idaho.

I have looked at a couple lines but do not know what one to go with. Options i have looked through include: Scandi Compact 390 Grain and possibly a Rage Line. Currently i cast with Skagit heads and have not used a Scandi on any of my rods.

Let me know what your thoughts are

I can't remember if I liked the 390g or 420g on that rod. I know that it's a 50/50 toss up with the Skagit Compact between the 450g and 480g. I'll throw both on this evening and post back a report.

Sweet thanks Hookedonthefly. Silverbow FlyShop had a 450 on sale for $25 but i figured that would be a little heavy to load the rod

TR6126 factory rec is 450gr for both Scandi and Rage - I like the 420 in both of those on that twig, but I like things 30-90gr lighter than the Rajeff recs across the board.

I like a 450 Skagit Switch and a 450 Rage on mine. The 420 Scandi is solid too!

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I got a little behind the power curve but did get to throw on a Rage 420. I felt it was good. I want to experiment more and will post back in the next couple of days.

On the Skagit side, I personally like the 450g but it has been a toss up with others selecting the 480g.
    Cheers,
    Ed
