...how very few straight mallard flank feathers there are in a pillow case sized ziploc when you are trying to tie up some zoo cougars?

...how off-white polar bear hair smells like cheap cigars

...that the end of a cautery tool is hot and will burn thru fingernails

...no matter how many spools of thread you have, you never have the color and size you need

...that when packing deer hair, the hookpoint buried just under the nail when you slip kinda hurts

...that zap-a-gap is good for said cuts so you don't get blood everywhere

...how you have a greater appreciation of flies your friends tie than they do?

That I always seem to be out of the color material I am wanting to tie with?
And that when I go down to my local shop for a mega stock up, they always seem to be out of ONLY the stuff I was there to buy

.....that when you buy a bag of sclallapen only 2 or 3 feather are worth a damn

.....that static electricity always make a fly tied out of ostrich look like ass when your finished.

.....that every time you clip a piece of wire, floss, tinsel its way too long so the next time you clip off a piece you try not to be wasteful and end up finding out you clipped it too short.

I feel you on the schlappen!! Poorest quality on average of any mateials I use... Thats why I spend a lot of time opening packages to find the one with the OVERALL best number of usable feathers. The rest I use like saddle hackle

...that guy, you know the one. That guy that's down stream from you a ways hammering all the fish, using the fly, the fly you've never heard the name of nor seen its design before.

If you're tying with monofilament for thread that it can unwind faster than you can wind it on. Any time you brush or scratch or blow you destroy something you just spent 20 minutes putting togeather. If you drop something while trying to hold hair or dubbing in place, what you dropped doesn't stop rolling until it's just beyond the reach of your fingers. If when you get the cap on the glue off you've just glued the hair wing to your fingers. Fun and games. Happy fishin!!

    Cold Arkansan,
    Cold Arkansan,

We got Yanke fish up north here! They don't recognize Rebel tactics!! LOL Our fish aren't like gracious southern Belles and southern Gents.

My daughter-in-law is an Arkansas gal and she is a true southern lady. But I'll be damned if I am brave enough to cross swords with her. Just thought I would throw that in. In fact both my daughter and son live in Little Rock.

    My "children" are 35 OK

So did you ever notice that you only here from them just before birthdays or Christmas! or when the shit hits the fan!

I know they are busy with work and family and all that stuff and I was too. It is just life and I think there has been a song or two about just that.

.... that Zap dries too slowly on all tying materials unless your fingers are attached to them.

.... that the flies you toss into the "reject" pile catch more fish than the "work of art" pile.

That any time you walk into a fly shop for just "some hooks" or "some dubbing" you leave with $40 spent

that tying is cheaper than buying flies -- why I'll have reached the break even point after only another 100,000 or so . . . provided I don't buy any more materials

    Merry Christmas, Happy new year
