We want to do a short family camping trip along the North Cascades highway, starting on the Burlington side and traveling East. I'm looking for some intel on campgrounds, must-see attractions/activities, etc. If you have any info let me know. Fishing is optional on this trip.
What kind of camping? Hike in tent type or car/rv camping? Both? I've done both at a few different places in/around the area of each type. Good starting point may be...http://www.nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/camping.htm
Blue lake is worth the walk 2 miles, the meadow and overlook at washington pass are beautiful, you could walk carefully along the small stream in the meadow (Washington Pass)and show your family the pretty cutts taking bugs off the surface. Cutthroat lake is also an easy hike that's sets in a beautiful Bowl. There are Forest Service campgrounds on the Methow valley side if you make that far. Also be prepared for mosquitos , hope that helps. Kelly Michelsen
Thanks for the input everybody! We will be tent camping...probably at Lone Fir campground. We have scoped out a few short hikes including Ann Lake, Rainy Lake, Cutthroat Lake, Blue Lake. Hopefully the skeeters won't be too bad...I hate those little bastards!
