The GLX is a bad boy rod for sure!!! Dont know much about the RPL except I didnt personally care for the "not as fast of action as I like" action?? I run an SP+ that I picked up from a gent here on this website...it blows my old Reddington out of the water and is one sweat rod!! Besides the SP+ I would have to say my other choice is the boron IIx :thumb

EDIT: forgot to mention I run a Redington RS2 reel....nothing fancy, definately heavy, but it seems to be bullet proof after 3 years still and the drag is excellent.....RIO multi tip on one reel, and SA Mastery on the backup

Summer or small water: WW Grigg 7wt 9' with an Okuma Sierra and a Airflo Multitip. I also have a complete shooting head setup for this rod.

Winter and big water Rainshadow XCEL 9 wt 9' with a Velocity 4 and 30' shooting heads. I also have a Airflow Multitip line for this bad boy. The XCEL blank is a rocket launcher, handling a 450 grain head with ease. If only my arm could handle that head with ease.

Mine is a custom made rod which is on a St.Croix Avid blank. It is a 9'6" 8wt,with a RS2 reel loaded with Rio Versitip line. I had it made for me because I'm too shaky to try and do it myself. Its a sweet rod if I only knew how to cast.:(

In the summer time I use a 9'GL3 5wt with a Adventure Reel loaded with 444 wtfwd floating line. I can't help myself with anything bigger because I'm a dry fly thrower in the summer time.

Since you brought it up, my favorite steelhead outfit is a hot pink tutu, with hot pink tights in the winter.

I wear a matching Patagonia vest, and only fish pink flies on pink hooks.

Personally, I think I am a serious fashon plate when I fish.

    2 current favorites:

    1) Sage 796 XP - Lamson Velocity 3.5 - SA Mastery Steelhead WF7F, SA Wet Tip III WF7F/S
(I just got my T&T Helix 9' 7wt, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. If it's anything like my other T&T's, I suspect it will soon be replacing the Sage as my favorite 7wt.)

    2) Thomas & Thomas Horizon 9' 8wt - Lamson Litespeed 3.5 - SA Mastery Steelhead WF8F, SA Mastery Quad-Tip. This rod is a cannon! Just ask Sparse...
