    Hello All,
After doing some research, I canceled my backorder for a cheapy Cabela's switch rod and purchased a ready to wrap 7 wt 13 footer from a gentleman in Medford, OR. I have been pouring over the boards and recently ran across some posts on taping ferrules prior to fishing to prevent the male end from slipping partially out and causing damage while casting. (I was surprised to see these beautiful rods being fished all wrapped up with electrical tape!).

Cutting to the chase, as I am wrapping my new rod should I be wrapping up the entire length of the ferrule for added strength? I have seen many rods with wraps only half way or less up. Does it matter? Not sure if I should have posted this on the rod building forum but I figured it would get more traffic here.
