    Nice fish, man.

I am almost done with all this study shit. Maybe then I can tag along and take a try at this steelhead thing. I did do the Koot float with my kids this summer. It was a blast.

No its not, comparing fish is awesome, especially when it produces pics like that. Nice fish.

    Those shades are sweet-
It never ceases to amaze at how the webs we fisherman weave on the Internet can be so full of grandeur....
Fish really get big when they hit the web...
Great fish and that's for sure, 15-16 lbs, not a chance, but who cares as estimate weights are usually over-rated, done it myself innocently many times . What we all think in cybor land, useless....
The feeling the angler gets when he lands one of thses fish in this thread , priceless, and that's all that matters-

Gotta say, 4 pages and still going, impressive...:thumb:

I love how I screw up the measurement, give the proper (36 inch) measurement and still get the peanut gallery chiming in on how big they think the fish is. I've caught my share of steelhead in the past twenty years, and have caught plenty of 12-14 lb fish. This was my biggest fish (17/18lbs. according to inches vs. girth). I'm sorry the picture doesn't represent that for you. Yes, I got excited because I thought I wouldn't ever get a 20 lber in the lower 48, and I put the time into accomplishing this. Again, I was stoked and overreacted. In retrospect I wish wouldn't have posted anything, but oh well, livpe and learn.

Weight is too hard to guess. Length easy, just put something next to it, but weight????? Even some scales are questionable.
Like I said, I landed a 36" long 25" girth Hybrid and people were guessing 13 lbs????
Nice fish and a Trophy in anyones eyes Panhandle

Sweet, that gives me 1 over 20lbs., and 2, 19-20 lbers. in the last 3 years , I never even knew I had, I'm very glad you posted this...
Just curious, how long is your rod from the front of the fore cork, to the first stripper guide? Kinda solves the "I cant figure out the diff between 40.5" and 36" on my tape measure ??? " question...
The inexperienced peanut gallery.... Remember, the only one mess'n with you is you...

Remember, I'm a newb, have only limited experience and am just another guys opinion. I could be wrong, if so I opologize....

You should just take a pic of that rod with a tape measure from about the bottom of the front grip stretched out to the first guide. That should help put a rest to the actual size Id say. Seems like an easy solution to me....

Aside from all of the bs between adam and bove, this picture came to mind when I read this thread. Sweet fish regardless Adam, probably fed the family for 3 meals.

Mark B., don't be a dick your whole life. Pics of steelhead caught in Alaska don't count. Pan, good on you for manning up and correcting your initial measure of the fish. It means you're not taking credit for that fish you've been looking for the past couple decades. When you hit it you'll know and you'll still have people doubting you. Was that a hen or buck? Pics don't do it justice but it has characteristics of being a female and if so, you'll never top that.

Personally, I've taped 6 fish over 40" in my life. 1 was caught by a friend, the others were on my rod. None of them made it to this forum 'cause they meant to much to me to exploit to the doubters.

Pan, if you decide to head west in Feb give me a PM. No guarantees but can show you some pretty nice and well known waters.
