I'll be in the Tampa area for a couple weeks for work in January and am thinking of taking a week or so and doing some fishing on my own. I was originally thinking of renting a car and heading south, camping and fishing. I am unfamiliar with the area so if anyone has some insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Call Ladd at The Sporting Life and tell him you want to do his night fishing gig.

I think if you don't catch you don't pay... you will catch and it will be exciting.

You do a trip with him and I bet he'll point you in the right direction regarding your original plan.

Mark Hatter has an article in Eastern Fly Fishing magazine's Jan/Feb issue that describes this trip.

Tampa Bay winter redfish are some of the most challenging fish I've ever thrown a fly at. A buddy of mine is a guide there and could probably point you in the right direction - http://www.lostcoastanglers.com
