Been awhile since on this site, which is because I haven't been up to visit family there in Enumclaw and Everett for a few years. I live in Chandler AZ, but planning a trip for a week or so at the end of June and will be staying part of the time with my brother and his family who live in Enumclaw. I did some looking around real close to where he lives and there are a few lakes like just down the road. Deep lake in the Nolte St Park and Fish Lake are like a mile or so from his house. My question is has anyone ever flyfish these small local lakes? I did find out that Deep lake is stocked with trout once a month or so. What is this lake require as far as fishing lic... regular state lic or is it a special permit? (in AZ we have some waters that are state lic and some inner city waters called Urbun-Pond that require a seperate permit). Or would someone suggest some other waters near there? I recall being there in Sept a few years ago and one of the parks had some fisherman working a creek/river for some salmon (Pinks maybe) but I am not sure what it would be good for at the end of June. any info would be helpful.

I've fly fished Deep Lake at Nolte before, and always manage to catch a couple of stocker trout. Nolte is a state park so I believe both a temporary non-resident fishing license and a Discover Pass if you are going to use the boat ramp may be required for the number of days you are going to fish, or license and any park entrance fee if no boat. See http://wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01384/wdfw01384.pdf page 6 for costs.

The Green River is up the Cumberland Kanasket road a few miles. see http://wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01384/wdfw01384.pdf page 46; probably just need the license unless you park in Kanasket Palmer State Park; there's river access along the road though.

Chandler huh? You'll probably want a jacket :)

I would consider a trip to Leech Lake off US2 at White Pass.
It is fly fishing only for wild Brookies. The lake is shallow and clear so you can often see the trout deep. Most of the lake is only about 15 feet deep with one hole that is about 30 feet.
They allow a five fish limit and the brookies are tasty and very pretty.
Most run about 10" but some 14 to 16 inch fish are caught.
It could be cold when your trip is scheduled but sometimes it is nice up there by then. It is at about 4000 feet elevation.
Much nicer place than any of the west side lowland lakes. It is only about a 90 minute drive there from Enumclaw.

Tim, unless your heart is set on fishing stillwaters, you are about 20 minutes away from the Cedar River (which should be in great shape during your visit). Give the guys @ Creekside Outfitters a call. Their number is 425-392-3800. They will have other options for you as well.

With a boat deep lake can be good if stocked well but in the summer they can be harder to find mid day. The back bay along the shores has or had anyway some crappie.

I have done well fishing between the two points.

Now this is all coming from a good 15 years ago, so take it with a grain of salt.
