I’ve had a couple of PM’s asking for more info regarding the Open Tyers table. So – I thought it best just to answer them all at once on the board.

Q: So – what is an Open Tyers table at All About the Fly?

A: Basically, a free-form tying event. AATF is set up with retail space in the front, and a separate back room area just perfect for events, classes, etc…. There are a couple of 12’ tables set up, so there’s room for all.

I’ve seen alpinetrout tie his ‘super mouse’ (under NDA of course!) We’ve tried out crease fly kits, summer steelie patterns, specific dry fly techniques; I even think we’ve had the dubbing twister out, etc… It’s a great opportunity to ask how to tie a specific fly, or maybe learn a new technique. There’s no set agenda, so it’s impossible to say what patterns or techniques will be covered on Tuesday, although Ron plans to start with some Winter Steelhead patterns. All skill levels are welcome - bring your own vise, or use one of our demo vises.

Hope that answers any questions – see you next week!

So what's everyone tying? I'm going to be all over some winter bull trout, steelhead, and spring creek patterns.

    Brendan,

I will be feeding you :beer1: (if allowed) and learning new patterns for Bull trout and Steelhead since I am very limited with knowledge on these patterns.

But I may bring my tying gear and try to tie some simple Stone and streamer patterns if I have all of my supplies in order. It should be fun :D

i might be bias,.... but it was a good time.
When I arrived to the shop around 5 there was already a full table of people tying. I didn't actually tie, but did fit the handle onto the new 7 wt that I'm building. Also learned how to make a dubbing brush (thanks Ryan). Everyone tied a lot of Steelhead patterns & Brendan tied a stellar looking crawfish.
