We've got four spots left to El Pescador Lodge on Ambergris Cay in Belize on April 19-25. The cost is $2920 double occupancy. It includes all the local booze you can drink, three squares, guide, boat and a 904-4 Orvis Helios rod.

Do the math on this one!

Call Ross at the shop - (425) 452-9138.

    Leland.

    904? Isn't that a 9' four weight? Great stick for a tarpon trip! :)

    Man, what a deal, though.

    My typo.

I meant free Helios 908-4 with the trip.

Orvis in Bellevue is a sponser for this website, Leland is a regular contributor, and especially when the deal is as kick ass as this one, I have no problem with them letting us salt water addicts see hot deals when they come up, and I appreciate the notice.

Hosted by top guides in Belize for a week, and an open bar to boot, I'd jump on that trip in a heart beat if I had the spare cash. Really, do the math; back out the cost of a top shelf fly rod from the price, and you couldn't plan a DIY trip for less.

So you're a new moderator? You don't know who the site sponsors are? Weird...

Oh, I assure you I know who the sponsors are and frequent them as much as possible. I also have the utmost respect for Leland and his posts are generally very informative and he's a welcome member to WFF. That said, I just calls them as I see them when I feel we are getting overly commercialized. I thought that his earlier post regarding this trip, though yes a great deal, went a little over the very grey line of etiquette vs. commercial interests.

To play devil's advocate to my own comment, Leland does not abuse this privilege like some constant self-promoters do by a long shot (Hawaiian bonefish). I pledge to save my angst for persons more deserving in the future.

  12. :thumb: Man... I would have been all over this if it was a free trip with the purchase of the Helios rod. Many of you blokes should jump at this opp to go somewhere warm and chase some slippery creatures! The folks at Orvis are all top notch in my book, so lets give them some credit for helping out the local FF community by giving and sharing of their information. Now, if Leland was REALLY nice, he'd share with me those steelhead holes that we're lucky for him.

Chris, Jerry and myself will take care of the moderation. This post is fine, and it sounds like a kick-ass trip.

Ibn, I like that. Can we say the moderators will ensure everything is in moderation and the members will kindly stick to holding their members? I could not pass up on that one. Sorry for those who may be offended.

It's a commercial post with a bait and switch title and Leland admits it should really be posted under Classifieds or Events. Not worth getting tied up in a wad about but not the best precedent either.

If I throw out fish porn in the saltwater section what is wrong with that? I'm not begging anybody's ass to come over here and fish with me. Most folks on this site know I guide in Hawaii. What does that have to do with posting large, beautiful wild bonefish caught in Hawaii. And by the way Whipper, if you took the time to read my posts you'll see 95% of my Hawaii posts are giving tips, advice or dispelling the hundreds of bullshit rumours and misinformation people have spread about Hawaiian Flyfishing. So far the fellas have been appreciative of big assed wild bonefish pictures and some sound information on island flyfishing of all kinds. Sounds like you need to apply for a moderator position Slippery whoever you are........ Oh, that's right we those positions filled. Hopefully we'll land another pig tomorrow here in Hawaii and I'll post that picture too. Just for you. Mahalo and Aloha Coach

Pic of yourself holding fish = awesome fish porn.

Pic of client holding fish, with phone number, logo and link = advertisement, plain and simple, regardless of how nice the fish.

    From forum rules:

"No spam. This includes promotion of other sites as well as sales, marketing or research."

Sorry, but this doesn't say anything about people we like/respect (which certainly includes Leland!) being exempt. This is a blatant Orvis advertisement, and the fact that it was posted by one of the "cool kids" doesn't change that. The original post should be deleted instead of SW's post objecting to it. Deleting SW's dissenting opinion is a gutless move IMO. Is this a "club" or a community?

    Orvis is a site sponsor.

Like I said, we'll take care of the moderation.
