I am just wondering if anyone has ever harvested their own materials such as Pheasant tail/feathers, deers hair, or moose hair? I have been thinking about having my family members (Very hunter oriented) send me some of the things that they harvest during the year.

Absolutely. Just be sure and keep the new material away from your collection until you have debugged it. Freezing-thawing a few times.

As already mentioned definitely, I have turkey, pheasant, several different ducks including Wood Duck all of which were taken by me or a friend (duck hunter). If you hunt or know someone that hunts there is a bunch of fur and feathers available

I have never bought a Hun skin from a fly store. All mine have come from hunters.
