The pattern Hans posted reminded me of my most productive summer steelhead pattern for the Oregon coastal rivers during the Fall. It was created by Mike Gorman, the founder of the Scarlet Ibis fly shop once located in Corvallis.

It is a very simple pattern and while the pattern has gone through many, many changes (including the name) I do best with the original design (I added a clear bead with silver liner head for some patterns but I also carry the ones with no bead head).

    The Green-Butt Pink

Bead (optional): Clear glass with silver liner
Hook: Daiichi D2546 (or similar short shank, ring-eye, wide gap hook) sizes 2-8
Thread: Pink (your choice of size)
Body: 2 wraps of chartreuse colored chenille, 2 wraps of pink or hot pink colored chenille
Collar: 2 wraps of pink or hot pink saddle hackle

Gene sent me two of his GBP's earlier this year and I had intended to tie some up. My summer's been so messed up that I forgot about the GBP until reading this post. Thanks Gene and a very enticing pattern.
