Just got of the phone with Jeff Brazda and he asked me to post this.

Last night had all of his work rods and reels stolen in Forks.

    The loot list:
    1. Sage 7141 Spey with Lamson Litespeed Reel
    2. Redington 7136 RS4 Spey with Lamson Reel
    3. Redington RS4 9ft 8wt 2pc with Lamson Reel
    4. Redington RS4 9ft 8wt 4pc with Lamson Reel

You can imagine as a guide, how that hit makes it hard to earn a living.
not only does he have to replace the gear, but the time it takes to travel
from Forks to get new gear and go back,,,, bummer.

If you run across any ads/pawn shops etc.. on the Pennisula area
    please let Jeff know

    His contact:

Unbelievable... actually totally believable, given the quality of people that are out there. Nevertheless, what a kick in the nuts.

I'll keep my eyes open up here north of the border.

This worked for me in getting my stolen rod back: We looked in the newspaper classifieds and found an ad by a guy looking to buy fishing gear. My wife called him asking him if he sold gear as well, pretending she was in the market to by me a rod. He said he did, and sent her to his ebay site. There was my stolen rod!. We got the police involved, and they recovered the rod from the guy and returned it to me!

Our friends had the same thing happen with a bicycle. A check of Craig's list found the bike for sale in Portland. They set up a sting, got the Portland police to accompany them to the "sale" and the guy was caught with bike returned. I hope Jeff can have a similar outcome.

Did he have contents insurance? When I had some stuff stolen out of my truck, I was able to claim it on my contents insurance policy.

Unfortunately as the economy gets worse, people will get more desperate. Places that you thought were safe will become targets.

Sorry about his loss and moreso the emotional distress I'm sure he'll go through. I've had my garage cleaned out 4 times and my vehicles broken into 3 times. I've always managed to have it covered under my insurance but the feeling of not being safe always lasts for a while.

    Hope everything turns out ok.

This just sucks big time. My son, a struggling carpenter, had his tools stolen last month. Put a serious bind on him. You can count on me to keep an eye out for Jeff's gear.

Any chance we could get a list of the serial #s on those rods/reels?

Would help for making a positive ID.

  16. I know the Sage should have one, but who knows about the Redingtons and definitely not the Lamsons. The only reel that has one that I know of is Abel? Sorry to hear, we'll keep a lookout on the classified forums to check for any potential gear. Might want to also check the Portland Craigslist as well.
