The Winston BIIx 13 ft, and 14ft 8/9wts. both will cast skagit heads with sink tips and large flies. I have found the 14ft to like a slightly heavier head than the 13ft otherwise they are very much alike. Keep the tip weight to a maximum of 25% of the head weight and let the rod load up and do the work and you will be very pleased with either rod. The 13ft 3in 7/8 weight rod I find to be a better floating line rod especially suited to full scandi heads and mid length heads. However, many use this rod for winter work with skagit heads and tips and like it very much.
