Can anyone recommend a place within an hour or two of Seattle to do a little day hike that is tolerable for 5 year olds and allows for some casting/fly fishing instruction? The kids are pretty tough, so they could do a good hike. Any trails along rivers that I am not thinkg of?

    Thanks,

    Pieter

Lake Valhalla over Stevens Pass is a good first hike. I'd wait a while for some snow melt though. Have fun!

Just do Rattlesnake ridge (or little si just a few miles away), and then hit the lake when you are done.

Barclay lake up off Hwy 2 is good. You could also hit the Yakima and hike in along the railroad tracks.

hey my dad would take me out to the raging river when i was 5 years old. lots of little fish fun and easy for the kids to catch some. set them up a little caddis and then they wi have fu seing the fish hit it. when the water is calmer you can walk in it (warm water) that should be fun for them.
