I am headed to Forks, next week for three days of fishing. These are the flies I selected. Any further suggestions would be appreciated. image.jpg

The fly that will work will be the one you can get in front of a fish's face. Winter steelhead aren't known for being very particular in what they'll grab.

in all honesty anyone who has read this forum for more than 10 minutes should be able to figure out effective patterns for steelhead because it really doesn't matter as long as you can smack them in the face with it, which is the tricky part

Those will catch fish if you find fish. Good looking selection. I suggest you separate them: large vs small, then dark vs light
Now separate out six large dark, four large light, three small dark and two small light. Fish those! Carrying fewer will prevent the mind games you will play on yourself while searching...am I fishing the right fly...just know you are and focus on the right water, read and presentation.

As a chronic fly changer, I often force myself to go minimalist in this regard. Good call Mr Call! :)

Fly changing time to me is valuable swinging time. I have forced myself to believe in what I am swinging so I am covering the most water possible.

Presentation is more important than the fly. Get it close to the fish in a natural manner and fishing success increases tremendously.

When I get tired of swinging for Steel, I dredge some egg patterns through a slot! SJ Worms and eggs give me hella confidence! Works every time! :D
