The place is addictive isn't it! It would be great to know when your over to meet-up and chat at the camp ground. It would also be nice to have someone with another power boat to bounce info off for a week with two parties fishing. The problem is you guy's were fishing my "favorite corner" HA.... must know your stuff at that huge lake!!!

Sorry for the hi-jack trout! And yes I will have to fish some mini leaches their this coming spring. I think the fish might be getting used to all the chiro's being thrown at them. One thing I noticed and so did the guide is that there wasn't as many chironomid hatches last year! could be the damsels eating them. Pieces of the puzzle???

You probably want to avoid the same date as a B.A.S.S. tournament held at the lake.

They haven't had the Tourny there in A few years Gene. You can find that info on the Oregon bass club website. The only reason I go to that site is to stay the f#$% away from them and see what other fishery they want to destroy next!

Mark have you finalized the design of the Bloody Mary?

Were you the one putting ice dub white tails on your micro leeches?

Thanks, Mark. As you know, it really, really pisses me off that the ODF&W allowed B.A.S.S. tournaments at a trophy trout lake that was seriously damaged by the illegal planting of bass. Talk about sending the wrong message to the criminals!

This might sound a little crazy, but has anyone tried using a riffle hitch type knot to get a regular style fly to hang horizontal?

Yes, and double eyes, and tying in a loop of mono or some other type of line, and the most interesting I've seen lately is a tag end of wire left long, you tie into the eye, lay the tippet back a bit and use the tag end to wrap it. With all that I've found that the pin off the front works best and most consistently.

I was thinking that a guy could do this with his leech patterns that were in his box to make them balanced if he wanted to. Your question and Ira's answers just go to show that there is nothing new under the sun as they say. (even thought there is)

Here are some already used Bloody Mary's. The first one is a normal tail, the next couple I tried to catch the "white-blue-sparkle" dubbing I add one some of them trying to make the black and red tail have some white sparkle to make it look more like a shuck than just a black and red dubbing tail.

In the group shot you will see the tape is red holograph tape and is the weak spot when fighting fish it brakes after a few.

    1x to 2x strong #12 and 14 scud hooks.
brass or gold bead chain eyes
black and red crystal dub dubbing
tail crystal dub with or without white and blue crystal
brush dubbing out between tape wraps.

Well my bead chains are laying around out of the packs so I don't know the size? I usually just take the hooks i'm going to use and match the size bead chain to the hook size at the fly shop! I never tie by formulas with the size numbers and hook numbers and all that crap----HA----- I think it ---- I see it --- I tie it!!!

That is if I can find what I need out of this pile of a tying bench in my dinning room! Yeah i'm single!
