WTT I need an anvil

I know this is a long shot...but I've started smithing with a small forge set up and I've quickly realized my little 15# anvil isn't going to get me far. Before I start scrounging for some ibeam or railroad track, I thought I'd toss up a request here.

Someone somewhere has an old anvil sitting in the garage or barn collecting rust. I'd be happy to take it off your hands in exchange for fly fishing gear from my arsenal. PM me if interested.

I'd like to place a pre order for a custom hammer of Thor hatchery bonker. Can you do a jungle cock inlay on the handle?

Anvils are not each to come by and generally go for at least a dollar a pound. Good luck!

If I could get one for just a dollar a pound I'd be all over it Part of the problem is all the antique stores buy them off estates and upcharge significantly, not realizing that when someone buys an anvil made in the 1800's, they're buying it to beat on, not stare at!

Definitely a long shot, but worth checking.

Hmmmm....gonna have to give some thought to whether or not I'm willing to part with mine. I'll let ya know.

Wow, guess I got a deal with the one I bought for my brother but that was 10 years or more ago.

I know that Grizzly has new ones in their store here in Bellingham. Don't know cost but you could go online.

Keith I've checked out the NBAA board--there are a lot of local blacksmiths in Longview that are active there and if I'm unable to obtain one elsewise, I'll save up and get a used one from the NBAA forums. It's typical to sell to other smiths for around $2 a pound which is doable at some point.

Yes. Hardie hole and the Pritchel hole are in good shape, horn is looking good. That's a thing of beauty.

When you get your anvil I'd like to place an order for a 7 weight broadsword, 13' 6", bright chrome steel color. Will call it the steelhead slayer!

No seriously, what you making in your forge?

I'll take a sword so sharp that should I encounter god, he will be cut by it. Do you need a deposit?

Just tools to start, then I'll move on to knives and hatchery hammers. I've got a ton of railroad spikes to practice on. Here's me last night banging on some rebar to make my first set of tongs. The forge is on cinder blocks in the background.

I did a quik search on the local craigs list. Check it out he says its 20lbs but it looks heavier than that.
