I'm not too fond of it. It might make getting the ice off your guides a little easier but your guides will still ice up

My experience is that the guides are not the big problem, it is the reel freezing up - meaning that it is "locked". Can you say LDR, LDR LDR?

Does it come in gallon size?
I could use it for my whole body right now.

With a lot of rods approaching the $1000 mark you would think they could offer a heated grip and guide option.:D

    Never heard of the stuff!:p
I am just glad that I have plenty of things to do indoors during this frigid weather. Frankly, I don't like to do any water related activities when its this cold. When I exhale, my breath freezes and falls to the ground. Forget about surfing in these temps. The surf was small and perfect yesterday, but 45 degree water and a daytime high barely over freezing, had me hiding out indoors, building up my new bike, and cleaning up my shop.
I never even think of fishing when its this cold. Imagine that!
Of course I have to don the cold weather garb and go for a walk once the daytime temps start to peak, so i don't go insane.

Weather like this is the reason that they have fish markets.

    Seth,
On the more serious side, I have used it and would say it helps to a point.
It's best to apply it before going out on dry guides. I haven't had much luck
trying to play catch up on frozen guides.
Unfortunately a lot of reels will reach the frozen point Scott mentioned and be totally
locked up. Same deal with telescoping wading staffs by the way.
On the unserious side I like "Mingo's Ice Off" a lot better.

Most of today's rods do not freeze up while fishing on Christmas Island or in the Bahamas. Perhaps it is something in the water?

I googled it. Apparently this phenomenon has baffled modern science for ages. We may never know....
