I'm heading to Iceland in 2 weeks. Any info on what to bring or who to talk to would be appreciated.
Besides lots of money, inquire about the bottom fishing, it's apparently spectacular.
I didn't fish there -- just hiking, climbing and paragliding.
BUT, I had the best Fish and Chips of my life in Reykjavik. This is the place -- fresh fish, right from the fleet across the road:
I guess i should of mentioned fly fishing only. Single hand or spey. Fresh water or salt
Ill look forward to the fish and chips
Sounds like a fun place to visit; a spey rod may be in order?
Be sure to visit that very cool bar made of ice...you know, the one in the James Bond movie or at least spend a night in the icehotel.
Went there last year and LOVED it! Didn't get to fish - Planning another visit for this fall, and plan to at that time - but had the best Hot Dog in the world, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Dang Freestone now I'm totally Jacked
I have had the Icelandic hotdogs... they are great
Hope my wife doesn't mind
Salmo Salar ! some of the healthiest runs on the planet.
go to this page, http://www.svfr.is/english , maybe you can find some info on fishing that suits you! Just remeber that you have to have a license or the landowners permission to fish a river or lake, it can cost you a lot of money if you don´t
I lived in Iceland for a number of years. Most, if not all, the water is private. Best to get yourself a guide so you'll be able to get on some prime water.
Uh... Icehotel is NOT in Iceland folks. Try Sweden.
gotta soak yourself in Blue Lagoon though near Grindavik (near Keflavik Airport)
bring your wallet... its all pay to play except salt I think. there's probably some sea trout saltwater fishing
don't get too distracted with the women... I have several ex(s) there and a son via one of them. One is former Miss Iceland and one other went to Miss Universe when my son was 2.5 years old. Most of the women are intoxicating. Nightlife is insane...
Check this out and live feeds from Reykjavik and Blue Lagoon:
Oh yes "The Rock" was what we called it, no time for fishing the year I was there was busy with other things as below a picture taken the year I was there. Looked like some nice salmon rivers and unique scenery. But had committments to Uncle Sam to fulfill and NATO. Keflavik NATO base was closed about 5 years ago. When you land look over at the hangars across from the terminal thats where I spent many a night and day working on the avionics on these fighter interceptors. Have to get back up there some day.
And for those that need help....
Need some negative points!
Porter, no negative points from me!
Try to drink as much Brennivin as possible.
