Greg, I appreciate you stepping up the way you did. Someone who understands personal responsibility. Right on!

Andrew, there's a dollar waiting on a dime if you get my drift. The deadline for the flies to be in my hot little hands is the last day of the month. No more mister nice guy, time to be a swap nazi, I guess. Because your late, your not in the running for the tying contest during December.

The next monthly swap flies are not due until Jan 31st, 2005. Can you believe it! Where did the year go? Anyhow, the flies that will be due are streamers, hair wing, feather wing, married wing, just so it's a streamer. Streamers don't need to be big, honkin flies either. I've fished some very effective streamers tied on a size 10 4XL hook. By the way guys, VEE has hers done already and she's also got her nymphs done and is working on terrestrials now. Dang, she's on a roll now.

Okay, here's a reposting of the Christmas theme tying contest rules, including the due to me date.

Denny Conrad of Conranch Hackle(www.conranch.com) has put up a #2 dry fly neck, and a JV hen skin as prizes for the Christmas Tying Contest. Winners will be contacted to make sure your color choice is available, and the feathers will be shipped directly to you by Denny. If you haven’t checked Denny’s web site, you should. That way you know what your trying to win.

Rules for the Christmas Tying Contest:

    1. Use any type hook or modified hook.
    2. Use any material, traditional or non-traditional.
    3. Tie a fly with a Christmas theme (it does not have to be fishable).
    4. Have your fly in to me not later than December 15th, 2004.
    5. Winners will be announced on December 20th 2004 by e-mail and the WFF Bulletin Board.
    6. Submit only one fly for the contest, this month isn’t a swap.

Your flies will be returned to you. I'll spring for the postage.

    Get to tying guys.

Good news folks, After a slight delay the flies are in the mail as we speak. Now it's up to the Post Office gods. You really outdid yourselves on these flies. Every one of them was well tied and honest to goodness fish getters. Nicely done everyone.

Mailed my Christmas contest fly in today (monday) sent some $$ for return postage because I sent it in a box and did not want you to get stuck for the return freight. Also a few of my latest bugs for you and VEE.
Thanks Ron for a great swap I am having a blast.

    Lefty and Jesse,

So far I have only two other flies in for the X-Mas Contest. Things are looking good though. Still 9 days left.

That cute means how the grand prize is a "fancy Chicken skin"!! AKA Conranch Dry Fly Neck.
But the winner is already in the mail LT so you don't have to send yours in.

Dang, but Jesse sounds confident doesn't he? I told you guys you all did a great job on those wet flies.

Have any of you checked out the Conranch Hackle site yet? Denny and Liz are great folks and fair to middlin fisherfolk too. Don't forget that there is a JV hen skin and a fly box up for grabs also.

    I like a spirited competition.

There seems to be a lot of bravado surrounding the contest. I know the best fly will win. :ray1:

Wow, I got my November flies today. Everyone did a great job this month. I really liked the flies this month, being mainly a still water fisherman, these will all get tied and used next spring. If you guys are up to it I sure would like recipes for these,if they were not on the toe tag..If you want you could e-mail or PM them to me. Thanks for all the hard work.

I received mine today -- an amazingly diverse assortment that gives me lots of ideas!

Someone suggested in Sept. that we e-mail the recipe to Ron, who would collate them and e-mail the set to all, so I've been sending them in. Didn't that work out? In any case, I'll e-mail mine to Jesse.

The Christmas fly is ready to go, so now I'd better decide which neck I want ;)

Pick up material for the streamers today, so those will be underway soon.

Now that REE has received my Christmas fly in good condition, the suspense is over!! :) The big competition now is for 2nd place. :thumb:
The bad part about this competition is that he said he is not the only judge. So all the flies I sent to bribe him wont do any good. ;)
BTW Bob thanks for the recipes for your flies.

Hey Bob, (and all the other swappers)

I have to admit to dropping the ball here. :beathead:

We will be posting pictures from the first 2 legs of this swap and then it is easy for you to just add your recipe to the picture.
I volunteered Beths services to scan the flies and she has been swamped lately

We are hoping to have the pics done by this Saturday.

    Hope this works for everyone,
    Dave and Beth

LT, My thanks to you and your lovely wife for putting the pics up for the swap. I've only been getting one or two recipes e-mailed to me a month, so lets go with the recipe on the swap photos thing.

The Christmas contest is heating up. Some of you have very vivid imaginations. All flies are very well tied and very innovative. Just to be fair to everyone, I am removing myself completely as a judge for the contest. I do know and fish with a couple of you so I want this to be completely fair all around. I've asked some friends who are long time fly fishers and fly tyers to sit in judgement of your creations. They are neutral third party types who don't do the internet thing. Hopefully this is okay with everyone.

A couple folks have thanked me, through e-mail, for the string leech. Sorry guys, but I didn't tie that one. The string leech is the product of Andrew's tying talent. Nicely done.

Only six more days to the contest deadlline. Let's get those contest flies in!

    Ron,
I got my flies last week and put my Xmas fly in the mail this morning.

All I have to say is Thanks to all the people participating in this swap, the flies are always really good, the swapmeister is the best and I think this has got to be one of the best things for a new tier to do in order to get productive in the tying world. Again many thanks to all!
