I think a new one goes for $225 at local fly shops ... kind of a deal .. but I'd rather have the support of my local fly shop for the few bucks you'll save.

Yeah, it says retail of $199 plus it's free shipping.

So I don't see it being a typo.

    I am really considering this.
Any objection other than it not being purchased by a fly shop?

If you want to buy it buy it. If not then don't. Are you really going to base your decision on what some guy who's living in the gutter (me) thinks?

My impression is that it's not a bad deal. It's not a good deal either. THey retail between $199 and $225 depending on where you shop. And while Sage is an excellent manufacturer of fine fly fishing equipment, the Launch series has had some mixed reviews ranging from very bad to good-but-not-great.
It's not a good deal if you're truly shopping for a deal. If you're in the market for a Lauch, then it's not bad.

Support your local fly shop. That is not any special deal. If you were saving say 25% or more than by all means go for it. The local type fly shps are far and few between any more with all the internet sales and big sporting goods stores. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I love going into a fly shop and getting more than just good service but just chewing the chit with the person working the shop.

    Charles,
The Blue Quill Angler is in Evergreen CO, maybe 20 miles from you in Denver. They have the Sage Launch for $199(2 piece), $225(4 piece), and they are currently throwing in a Sage Performance II Line(Made by Rio,$65 retail)FREE! If you can't get there, they'll ship it to you UPS for Free.
SO: Authorized Local Sage Dealer --- Something for FREE--- What's not to like?????

It depends on the shop and the person, but spending that kind of money on ebay can be nerve racking. I wont do it again after being burned once. Support is priceless in the long run.
    Just my 2 cents

I know where you can get a 5wt 4pc 9' Loomis Metolius for 200.00, which destroys both rods mentioned above. Plus if you break it, Loomis doesn't repair rods for 50$, they give you a BRAND NEW rod entirely!

Now thats something to think about.

PS, the ticrx is a tank.

Well I went and purchased from a Local Fly Shop.
I was giving the opertunity to cast a few other rods.
So Far (it could be phsycological)but this just Sage Laugh felt great!

Now that you mention the repair that Loomis- IS that TRUE?
