Water levels are awesome--much higher than normal for this time of year. The fishing's been good albeit more crowded than I normally expect June/July.

Puella bikini hatch is in full swing now. I counted over 100 rafts yesterday. Rocking! I had two seven year old girls ask me if they could have a beer. With their mom right there with them. It was good for a few laughs at least.

    Flyborg,

So did you offer "Mom" a beer? I gotta' fish some place else. I don't get no bikini hatches. Musta' been 2 dozen plastic rafts on the Cowlitz yesterday, and I didn't get flashed once. I need to get a sign like Evan's and put it on my boat. Then again, I'm not sure I want to get flashed by some of them cowgirls.

The Kalama tubers aren't of any greater quality than the Cowlitz. I'm pretty sure it's all the same genetic stock. Every once in a while you get some of those Portland hippy girls, though :) Vegans definitely sit lighter on an intertube.

Man, never offer rafters a beer. Ask for one! They all float with coolers full of ice! And at least one can, or bottle, will get carried off the river.

Floated Red Barn to Modrow Friday. Water was perfect, but no steelies, just a bunch of smolts molesting my muddler. Boat traffic was non-existence. I think we need some rain to push some fresh fish into the lower part of the system. All and all still one of my favorite rivers.

Floated Red Barn to the Bridge on Saturday and Sunday..........nothing. I did hook one below beginners hole and lost it. Of course, I have no idea what I am doing. I started off nymphing which I know nothing about then switched to swinging. That is when I hooked into one. All in all...........beautiful river!

Fished it on Saturday. Hooked one on a dry and caught one. Not too many fish in there, most of the ones I saw were kegged up in the deeper slower runs, but did see some movers, and a couple of aggressive takers. We hooked 3 all day- red barn down. Hadn't fished it in years so it was cool to get out and see it again. Saw a dead sturgeon on the river bottom.

Fished it from the road the other day and got the big ol' skunk. Seemed to be pretty slow for most from what I heard.
