    I wasn't planning on fishing today, so I slept in for a change. Looking out the window I saw fog in the tree tops and lots of cloud cover, and I instinctively grabbed a tide chart. It was late in the morning for salmon fishing, but I know a beach near my house that fishes well on an outgoing tide (the place where I landed my first big silver years ago). I grabbed minimal gear and headed out for a quick trip. I didn't reach the beach until nearly 9:00, but the cloud cover held and it was breezy with nobody around. The current wasn't running as I had hoped, but the water was crystal clear with a nice ripple on the surface. A single herring jumped twice about 60 feet out, so I covered the spot with a few casts. I got a hard strike on my clouser and saw a heavy silver flashing at the end of my line. After a good fight, a fat hatchery coho buck slid onto the rocks (weighed in at a little over 6 pounds). I figured this silver was a gift from the salmon gods, so I made my offering of thanks and left for home.

    Nice going Tim. The fish gods were good to me as well today....... but didn't get to sleep in.

    That thing is fat! Nice fish! I didn't get to sleep in or get a fish, but no complaints from me. A weekend to remember!
