I've been fishing for smallmouth way up the spokane arm of lake roosevelt quite a bit this summer and every time I go I see a ton of ridiculously HUGE carp...like scary big. I've been wanting to get after them but have had a tough time breaking away from the bass fishing....chucking poppers for aggro smallies this time of year is just too much fun.

My question is this...these carp seem to hold in deeper water (8-12 feet) and there really isn't much in the way of "flats" in this area of the lake...there are shallows but nothing of wading depth. I've never seen any of these fish "tailing" like you do in some areas. Obviously, these fish are feeding actively but I don't really know where to start. Does anyone have any advice?
