Gonna be making a move to the mean streets of Mount Vernon next week. Of course I'm sad to leave all my friends and fishing buddies I've made in the last three years and I'll always look forward to coming back, visiting and harassing a few fish. Likewise, there's a standing invitation for anyone to come visit and take a look around my new Puget Sound/North Cascades backyard. Also looking forward to reconnecting with old friends I know from my days living on Whidbey. I have transferred to the REI in Bellingham and will also be working with my friend on his small business building aluminum pannier boxes for adventure touring motorcycles. Exciting times ahead. Gotta get my saltwater game back together and rediscover what else is out there. Basically leaving one great fishery for another, very different, fishery. Also stoked to be back to the west side where good mountain biking is everywhere! Always hated that Tricities is a mountain biking black hole. And Mt. Baker... Lordy I'm excited!

Lol. Olive, I work for REI. I have about ten rain jackets. I lived on Whidbey for a few years, so I'm fully aware of what the weather's gonna be like. Will probably be saying "what the hell did I do" the first time it rains for thirty days straight. Still, it's beautiful on the wet side and rain's never kept me from getting out and enjoying it.

Whidbey is in the rain shadow. Mt. Vernon a bit less with 32" ave. annual pre-cip. But Skagit County is paradise, so I got nothing but envy for you. Have a good move, and enjoy.

Think of it this way... you're not moving into the rain... you're moving away from the radiation :D

(The Tri-Cities is a little too much on the desert side for me so I think you're coming out on the plus side with the move.)
