Fished Sunday (27th) from 9:30 - 3:30. Very high winds most of the day, temperature about 75. Damsel hatch mid-day over on south side of lake behind braided islands. Chiron fishing seemed very slow.
Had success with black and maroon leech patterns. No luck with damsel nymph, but talked to a guy that did over on the south side of lake.

Overall, tough to very tough fishing conditions. By about 1:30 winds picked-up to about 25-30 mph in my estimation. Whitecaps across the lake most of the day. Less than 10 anglers all day.

Walked into Nunnely later in the afternoon. Nobody on the lake at all, winds seemed even worse than Lenice.

I heard from another angle @ Lenice that lake was not planted this year due to budget concerns.
Goog luck to all that venture over.

Did you happen to take a surface temp?

No I didn't, but the water didn't seem cold. I would guess somewhere in the mid 50's.

I fished on Monday - maybe 10 anglers as well. half a dozen rigs in the parking lot. Winds were OK for the most part, some gusts made it hard at times. In the afternoon, the wind settled down to less then 10 mph.
Fishing was tough though. Nothing seemed to stick. Worked most of the lake and got fish here and there for a total of 7 all day - not big numbers. Saw some damsels in the water, but no love. Saw spinners on the water as well - but no rises. Only one rise all day. Weeds are starting to make an appearance. My fishing buddy got over a dozen with various flies. I figured a damsel and hares ear would have been hot - nope.
never took a lake temp. Beautiful day to be on the water!!!

Mid 50s? Chopaka is already in the low to mid 60s and a lake that I haunt at 3800 ft is already 60plus. I would have guessed a lake that far south would have been approaching end of fishing at 65 degrees. Maybe there are some springs in those lakes that I am not aware of.
    thanx
