At 1:00PM on Saturday, Sept. 12, Les Johnson will present a free seminar at Orvis Bellevue - "Fly Fishing for Pacific Salmon." Coincidentaly, that's also the title of his book. So if you want to learn directly from the "man," bring a notepad and pencil.

The Les Johnson salmon seminar scheduled for Sept. 12 has been cancelled.

Les had a couple strokes over the weekend and is in the hospital recuperating. I visited him last evening and left as he was watching the Boise St. Oregon football game. He is getting a lot of sleep and I hope he is on his way to a full recovery. Time will tell.

    Leland.

Les is constantly in my thoughts and prayers. His first Fly Fishing for Pacific Salmon(1985) book inspired me to pursue catching salmon on Puget Sound with a fly rod. I am forever indebted to him and cannot thank him enough. Hope that he makes a speedy recovery and will be again be making his marvelous/informative contributions to WFF.

Les is doing a bit better. His feeding tube was removed and he is swallowing real food but not enough, so the tube has been replaced for now. He is lucid and has good memory functions. He is, however, paralyzed on his left side. Carol said that he is buoyed by cards. The address is:

I read Mr. Johnson's book cover to cover (more than once) before a recent trip to Seattle. It's a beautifully written and photographed piece of work. Here's hope for a speedy recovery. Bill Nichols
