I don't usually post reports of my outings, but had to make an exception in this case. Had my personal best day on Lone...

    Time: 8am - 3pm
    Weather: calm, with constant rain
Water conditions: 63-65 degrees and heavy algae bloom
Arsenal: tan damsel nymph on intermediate and orange-bodied brown soft hackle on type IV sinking

Spent the first hour throwing a popper around the edges for bass. Nada. Headed for deeper water in the middle and stayed there pretty much all day. Between the damsel and soft hackle, a fairly aggressive troll/strip combination yeilded 20+ fish (I lost count after the first dozen), several of which were in the 17"-19" class. The rest were smaller, but healthy and feisty. I didn't take any pics because I'm a lazy SoB and there were few witnesses - with no more than 3 boats on the water at any time. I'm not one who's prone to BS, so trust me, it was a great time - despite getting rain-soaked.

BTW: the 20+ to the boat was about half of what I lost or missed.

Jeff - Awesome report and thanks for sharing! Given that weather change, what happened yesterday doesn't surprise me in the least and the day you described sounds about right...the best part is you happened to be there for the event and I bet you fished your ass off once you realized it. Interesting thing about the method you were using, I noticed at Pass last night that fish were active and moving but only at a little depth (the very same method was working there - put it down, strip it up and be abrupt about it). My thermometer was broken but the surface was very warm to the touch. Made sense from the week we've had. My guess was that sudden change in system stirred the action but fish were spending their time below in cooler layers. They had a surprising amount of energy on the hook as well. There were a few rollers but I could tell they weren't staying up high for long (at least before dark). Anyhow, glad to hear your account down at Lone since I couldn't make it to Pass till after work and was dying to know how it fished earlier on. Bummer I didn't skip work if Lone is any indication :(

Congrats on hitting it just right!

Jeff - Way to go. Sounds like a banner day on Lone despite the pitiful weather.

Tim - I was in the Fish Cat on Pass. Started fishing around 11:30 and was fairly consistent until about 2 when it slowed way down. Very sporadic hits after that. Fish were very hard hitting (5X tippet is a little light at Pass). I seemed to find the fish closer to the surface. Don't think I had any action deep.

Great report, Lone right now is the best I've ever seen since they did the weed kill.

It was down right epic today. I found fish every where on everything. 50 something today with three over 20". The fish were hungry. My best day ever on that lake.
