Has anyone ever fished Lopez Island for salmon? Any info would be appreciated.

I've fished it for rockfish and lingcod with normal spinning gear, but never for salmon. I think that it was closed when I was there, the regs keep changing in that area. I suppose it could be good, though, there is a lot of good habitat, lots of baitfish and good slatwater salmon habitat.

Thanks for the info. I will check the regs before I go out. Do you know where on the island you caught the bottom fish at? I've been to shark ref and it looked really good for bottom fish, and probably silvers too since it had heavy kelp beds.

Not sure about exact locations... except it was on the south side of the isle. I was fishing with a guide, using big heavy, barbless (yes, even when im not flyfishing i mantain the ethic), jigs on the bottom, over these big pinnacles and cliffs. Lots of quillback rockfish and small lingcod. Saw salmon cavorting and jumping about, but they were off limits then.
