even if you truly believe what you just said, and i do think there's a grain of truth in it, you're still not going to watch a coyote eat your favorite pet in your backyard, or your two year old daughter, etc. you'll defend yourself and your stuff. so besides being inherently hypocritical, your statement, in terms of improving the ongoing dialogue about how to balance development with natural habitat, is useless. it doesn't advance anything but conflict. a conflict you can't win.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread except to wonder if there is anyway to prepare coyote so that is tasty. I didnt find dog very appetizing.

Also as far as ruining nature goes a few weeks ago i was fishing a small mountain creek at about 3500ft elevation, the type of mountain stream where the directions to get to it are turn off the paved road and drive 10 miles, then hike 3 miles up this hill.

It was a warm peaceful day, I was having a fine days chasing small cuts that would take dry flys all day long. I was coming up to a nice pool and approaching it quietly as I could. I was wet wading in the cool 42 degree water which was chilly but nice, and trying not to slip.

As I rounded the bend to the pool I wanted to fish there was some fat dude with a big chick buck naked and bent over a rock in the middle of the pool. He didnt even stop thrusting when he saw me, WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN CANNOT BE UNSEEN.

Nature is officially ruined for me.

Kcahill....usually the polite response is "gettin any" or "havin any luck", you need to observe proper etiquette in these situations....have you no tact?

When See these posts by overly sensitive hand wringing d bags just have to chuckle. If want to fix the problem you can start with yourself. Find a piece of rope and a sturdy limb on a tree or a rafter in your garage.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn 't fly fishing putting fur, hair, synthetics on a sharp piece of steel? Throwing the piece of sharpened steel into a body of water in order to fool a fish? Hopefully can fool the poor fish into inhaling the hook then delighting in its attempts to escape while it fights to near or sometimes total exhaustion.

What makes a fly fisherman different than other sportsmen ? For some reason the fly fishing community has a disproportionate share of miserable pricks.

Way too funny. Was he Nymphing ? :D I think way too many people take life a bit serious in here!
Oh, and Navajoe if you had a big stinky rat eating everything in your garage and house including your pets while you were asleep would you pet it and feed it? Sorry, I kill scavengerous vermits! There is still plenty of open country they can chase rabbits in Washington....

I am not sure any one has the right to pass judgement on whether or not someone's personal philosophy represents truth. Truth is, any and all wildlife have a right to be just that, wildlife. It is a travesty to humans when a loved one or a pet is dispatched by wildlife but nevertheless an act of nature. The real sorrow comes when humans, who are supposed to be the more intelligent, reasoning, beings on this planet chose to overpopulate at an "out of control" rate leaving next to nothing for these creatures to survive on.

Honestly I know of no creature, other than humans, that pollutes, overpopulates, rapes the planet, kills its own kind for sake of oil, becomes rich at the expense of the masses, commits genocide, makes slaves of its own kind, hates its own kind because of the color of their skin, hates its own kind because of religious or sexual preference, and last but not least kills for pleasure. I am sure there will be those who can site some instances where wild creatures engage in some of the above but not to the extent that humans are guilty of.

When someone on this board speaks up for nature as opposed to humanity, I applaud them and embrace their philosophies. I do so because they obviously care about the environs that bring us all to this forum to begin with.

upsops said "I kill scavengerous vermits" What is a vermit? Why would someone kill something that scavenges? Do you kill Turkey or Black Vultures?

I guess it figures that so much hate could be generated by an article in an LA newspaper. I did not see where most of the posters were condemning those who hunt or shoot. I, myself, love listening to coyotes and have even run into some on trails--big deal. If one attacked my dog, I would defend the pooch and dispatch the coyote without blinking an eye. I have been coyote hunting. But, I also would not let my dog or cat( if I had one which will be right after hell freezes over) roam. I keep my dog with me or in the house for his own safety from rabies carrying animals and humans (cars, etc) and I have no patience with those who let their cat run free to scratch their neighbor's car, crap in the flower beds and kill birds, squirrels and chipmunks.

Please me specifically what sets you apart from other "vermin humens"? Are you what years ago would be described as an Übermensch?

too bad you were not born 90 years earlier and worked in 1930's Germany and/ or the Soviet Union Why Pol Pot could have used someone with a mindset like yours to rid thevworld of "vermin humans" and establish a final solution. Both my wife and I lost relatives who were murdered years ago in eastern Europe due to a supercilious mentality like yours. Would you start with the gypsies, mentally retarded and those with a funny nose?

How are you saving poor mother earth from the " vermin humens"?

Is it your carbon emitting vehicle you use to fly fish? Is it the poisonous petroleum based products ( goretex waders, jacket, carbon rod, steel hooks, fly line) you use to catch an endangered fish and let him go after it is fights to total exhaustion. How do you logically justify this?

Bet you do notbeven enjoy fishing.

but because you wanted to feel superior to others.

Almost everyone on here cares about the environment and dedicate our free time to saving it.

Here's a clue| Every living being I'd hard wired to survive at any cost and to propagate it's genes.

Primates are know to attack other primate groups kill the them, eat them, gang rapebthe rival females and eliminate the competition.

male bears routinely kill cub of female bears every Spring to eliminate the competition for propagation of

Wolves have been documented ad naseum to kill just for pleasure. GO the Clearwater Nat Forest and talk to the Bios and ask them how many half eaten deer moose and elk carcasses are found every year. Wolves have been recently documented in ID MT and POW taking bear cubs out of the Den in Winter and killing them to eliminate thebcompetitio,

Ants bees wasps attack other rivals groups, gang rape females qnd make slaves of the survivors.

Nature ain't a Disney movie. Even the native Americana attacked rival tribes and raped tortured and made slaves of rival tribes, Same story in South America, Africa, Asia.

Native Americana routinely hunted a resource until none was left and moved on leaving their refuse behind.

Modern man seems to follow the same path.

Ugh, that is a picture in my mind's eye I am now blessed with. Thanks for sharing that...NOT.

By the way, man vs. the rest of nature: try to think of population growth of a species of animals that (mostly) cares for it's offspring well into their reproductive years, adapts to live in every environment on earth, and will kill each other off for a pair of high priced tennis shoes or their differences in their beliefs in God. Coyotes come in many forms.

I was in shock, I would have loved to throw out some witty comments, but I just sat there and stared. You could go up to this area ever saturday in the summer and maybe only see 1-2 other people the entire time. To run across people up there is a suprise, to run across 2 people in the middle of my favorite pool doing the dirty is just wrong.

The funniest part looking back on the traumatizing event is that I backed away from them, all the way around the bend until they were out of sight, like I was backing away from a bear.

They probably posted the whole thing on some exhibitionist forum talking about how some asshole with a fly rod ruined their getting back to nature ritual.
