I have been offered a bayliner explorer 2270 (22') with the volvo 4cyl in it for next to nothing from my family and was wondering if anyone happened to have one and what there opinion of it was. It would be nice to open up the opportunities where i can fish, drop some pots, fish for what i can't fish for with a fly rod, and hopefully get the family involved.

TS, I had one back in the early 80's. OK for what it was designed for. Economical small 4 banger for power. Sort of a small cockpit and a good sized cabin. Good wet weather boat. I only kept mine for a couple of years as it didn't have enough speed to run to areas that I wanted to spend time at. It's a good family boat, just don't put a lot of stuff (weight) in it as it has to work hard to get that semi planing hull up and moving.

Solid engine, but check out the price of parts, it can get pretty high.

If I remember correctly these came in a little fly bridge cruiser or a hardtop express style. Both nice looking boats with a history of bottom problems if left in the water.
