When tying the standard (Bailey's) muddler minnow, does anyone take the time to lacquer the turkey tail and wings?

Lacquer no. Flexament? Not for personal use but for commercial patterns yes. Makes them look like they came out of the fly bin alot longer. Doesn't make them fish better, buy spray on krylon fixative, or like I said flexament works, and takes no time to do. But you do have to wait while it dries, so do it in advance! On smaller, size 10 type flies, I often use the feather stuff on the "other" side of the feather you buy for Biots. Very stiff. Holds together, but for like a 10 purple muddler, makes a nice wing if you don't use too much.
