Just received my first Hydros rods, two 5wts and two 8wts. They are every bit as good as the reviews. $495.

  2. Maybe Orvis will coop with WFF on the loaner program. Would be nice for real fisherman testing review of the rods, especially the 8 wt. I think if more fly shops had a loaner program it would help sell more product through real world use versus casting in a parking lot or a grass field.

Are these the replacement for the T3 line?

How do they compare to the Helios?

    Eric,

Yes, they are the replacement for the T-3 at the same price point. The Hydros uses the same Helios blank, minus the titanium guides and graphite reel seat inserts. It is a strikingly beautiful blue. We cast the 5wt today and it's a rocket launcher just like the Helios. Tomorrow, we'll give the 8wt a workout.

Yes, the 8wt I have in the shop is a SW version and I will get 6wts and up soon.

This is a great rod.I cast a 5wt yesterday it is a very light rocket. It is a better rod than some of the med fast to fast rods that cost alot more money.Well worth the<$500.00.
