Chris: Excellent job putting the tide program together for us to use. All your hard work and effort is much appreciate! It is pretty exciting to think of all the possibilities for using the tide charts. Had an excellent day of SRC fishing today and have just incorporated the tide chart into my fishing journal write-up for the trip. Over time, the tide charts should be able to help better determine which tides have the best fishing. A major factor for successful fly fishing on Puget Sound is fishing where and when there is current. When planning fishing trips, the tide chart should help highlight which days will have optimum current and the part of the day when it occurs. Roger
I really like the nuances that this chart offers. The gold shows me daylight hours at-a-glance, the two shades of blue show the incoming and outgoing, that's very handy. Outstanding!

A nice feature of the tide charts is that you can enlarge the chart for a day that you are interested in by clicking that day. Easier to put in your fishing journal or plan a day of fishing. Roger
Chris, as someone who fishes Puget Sound beaches almost every weekend, this new tool will be awesome. I really like the visual summary with the ability to add the specific numbers if I desire. Thanks for all that you do at WFF.com!:thumb:
Well... One of the issues was the calendar was too slow as it created each of the days prediction images to fill the calendar month on the fly. A few methods were attempted to speed it up, but the end result still sucked and on top of that the program exposed the servers proc as it chugged along. Viewing a few stations at once brought the server to a halt. The end result was to create an admin utility that prebuilt each of the required images from the xtides program. The WFF tides calendar now only queries the MySQL database for the data used for the data view and builds the display with the available images. Sounds simple, but... There are two images per day for each station. One used for the calendar and one which is a little larger available by clicking a day. Doing the math: 132 stations X 2 images per day X 365 days a year X 4 years I prebuilt images for so far... That's 385,440 images. I'll likely cap 750K once OR, AK and parts of B.C. are added. Chris

Just an FYI if you are looking to find the tide chart for the coastal beaches: The tide chart for Destruction Island is the one listed that most accurately represents the tides on WA coastal beaches south of Kalaloch. Being just inside the harbor entrance, the tides for Westport/Point Chehalis are a little bit later and a tad higher than those occurring on the coastal beaches. I use Makah Bay for the coast just south of Cape Flattery, hiking down to Shi Shi Beach, etc. The chart is just an approximation, anyway.
