Went north to scope out some new areas this weekend. Had a ball checking out rivers, but was way intrigued by the Nooksack up above the falls, going to Mt Baker ski area. I checked the regs and there is nothing mentioned above the falls. I saw fish, food supply looked thin, water temp very verrrrry cold, but in talking with the locals, the fish are there. While coming back down below the falls I drove through camp grounds and hiked a lot of the off roads following the river, many camp spots not in fee camp grounds and several salmon rearing pool stations have been created with attendants. WHo because they are camped there, and have been some of them for months, are eagar to educate and inform anyone on what they have been working on. Lots of great info on the salmon effort.
The Nooksack is down now from what it was, and the fishing was good, not dries but nymph, the larger flies are WORTH using so you do not catch those little guys as often. So if your up that way-take a look. It was worth my drive.
